Registering in the register. How does it work?

Registering in the register. How does it work?

Registration
You register in this register by entering your details, as stated on your ID document, on the application form. In addition, you confirm that you comply with the code of conduct and that you master the assessment criteria (in which the quality of the DPO is defined).

Confirmation of registration
After registration you will receive a validation email. This will verify your email address and confirm your registration.

Certificate of registration
Within five working days you will receive your certificate by email as proof of registration in the register. The invoice and your certificate can also be found in “My NRFG”.

Assessment and annual registration
You complete a self-test by ticking that you know the assessment criteria and follow the code of conduct. Within one year you will take the mandatory knowledge test. Thereafter you pay an annual fee (€150) to remain registered as a Registered DPO.

Costs and payment
For €150.00 per year you are a Registered DPO and may use the personal registration logo. This logo shows that you meet the assessment criteria and code of conduct of the NRFG. A valuable recognition of your professionalism and quality!

When registering you can choose from two options, whereby your registration date determines when you pay costs:

  • If you register before 31 December 2025, you will not pay costs for that year. As of 1 January 2026 you will then pay the annual fee of €150 (excl. VAT).
  • If you register after 31 December 2025, you will pay the annual fee of €150 (excl. VAT).

Registration as a Registered DPO only becomes official once payment has been made.

Visibility database
You can indicate whether or not you wish to be visible in the public database of the register. If you explicitly indicate that you wish to be visible in the public database, the confirmation of your registration will appear when someone enters your name, place of residence and registration number in the search function.
